Accessibility

We want this website, and Counterbell itself, to work for everyone who uses them.

This website

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. In particular:

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
  • Text and controls meet AA colour contrast.
  • Pages still work when text is enlarged to 200 percent, and on a phone screen.
  • Every screenshot of Counterbell has a text description, and the steps beside it say the same thing in words.
  • Everything works without JavaScript, and animation is turned off if your device asks for reduced motion.

We check the site with automated tools and by hand. It hasn’t been audited by an independent accessibility specialist.

Calling a practice that uses Counterbell

Counterbell is a voice service, so it needs a caller who can hear and speak. It speaks clearly and waits for you, asks again if it doesn’t hear an answer, and you can say “reception” during opening hours to be put through to a person, where the practice has set that up.

If you’re deaf, or find it hard hearing or speaking, the National Relay Service can help you contact your practice. If you need an interpreter, TIS National on 131 450 can call the practice with you.
